Whether you’re just dipping your toes into internet marketing or are a veteran looking to take the leap to true success, building an email list is critical to making money online.
The reality is this: most people who visit your website will never come back.
Think about your own surfing habits – how many sites – besides social media and news – do you visit regularly? Probably not that many. How often do you go to a website, read an article or watch a video, and then move on? Probably quite often. It’s normal for websites to have a huge percentage of one-time-only visitors. That’s why building an email list is critical to making money online.
Building an email list is the difference between success and failure for your online business.
I read a lot online. I’m always looking for ideas to improve my businesses, but what’s hot one year may prove to be not-so-great down the road. At one time every blogger was jumping to put Google Ads on their site. It seemed like the perfect idea, putting ads related to your content on your site automatically. I remember that almost every blog and website I went to had Google Ads.
Then came reality – without a HUGE amount of traffic you wouldn’t be able to buy a cup of coffee with your Google Ad earnings. It was great for Google, great for a few heavily trafficked websites and generally useless for everyone one else. When was the last time you saw Google Ads outside of Google’s search page?
What’s the one method that has been the foundation of success online for years? Building an email list.
The email list has been the backbone of online success for years – and it will continue to be so. When a site visitor joins an email list, they become a prospective customer. They’re interested in what you have to offer – and that is incredibly valuable. It’s then up to you to build a relationship with them.
Imagine this: you’re shopping for a new car. You walk into a car dealership. A salesperson walks over, pushes a sales contract into your hand and asks you to sign it. Would you? Probably not. There’s no relationship between you and the salesperson. You don’t know anything about them or anything about the car. Can you trust the seller? Is the car what you’re looking for? Is the car worth the money?
However, if the salesperson introduced themselves and you got to know & trust them – and decided which car was the right one for you – the sale would end very differently. That’s building a relationship – creating trust – something everyone needs with the members of their email lists.
